A new Needle Keep made during FNSI

Last night was the first Friday sewing night for FNSI for 2015. I joined many other blogging friends to a relaxing night of sewing.
I have a large hexagon needle keep-- it is looking a little old and I have many needles in it all the time. I decided that I needed a small, new needle keep and it will just hold the needles I need for the project I am working on at the time.

So last night I started on this project, and completed it today.

Appliqued and embroidered hexagon

With the border and some bushes added

With a Sheep button?

Or a birdhouse button?

Or a bird sitting on the fence?

Or why not a kangaroo-- after all we are in the country.

I am happy with the finished product and I chose the sheep yet again. I must say the sheep is still my favourite button.

Thank you Wendy, for hosting another FNSI.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

Cheers,
Yvonne

Instagram and a chance to win a set of buttons

Technology is progressing faster than I can cope with. I hear everyone talking about Instagram. I had to investigate it. With a lot of help from Margaret (www.asamplerofstitches.blogspot.com)-- and I mean A LOT of help--I am now on Instagram too. So you can follow me on @yvonnewdesigns.

I have been painting buttons to go with the Room with a View tyriptych that is in the January Homespun magazine. If  anyone would like a chance to win a set of these buttons, please leave me a comment, and your name will be in the draw for them.
These buttons are available through my Etsy shop ( click on the Etsy shop in the side bar) and also from Marilyn's shop-- The Patchwork Teahouse at Warburton in Victoria.

Friday night with Friends (FnwF)

This was our first Friday night sewing with friends for 2015. I had bought a bundle of felted wool from Sandy of Shiralee Stitches (www.shiraleestitches.com.au) and have been wanting to try it out and this is what I came up with. It will be a 6"block.

Little felt house

With a faithful dog out the front

or maybe a cat

or a cat with a bird in the tree

I will spend my weekend browsing the net to see what the other members of the FnwFs have made. The list is at www.stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com.au

I enjoyed the sewing night and look forward to the next one. Thank you , Cheryll, for hosting it again this year.

Enjoy the weekend.

I came up with this design after a holiday in the Fleurieu Peninsular in South Australia a couple of years ago.

Tomorrow night is the first of the FnwF hosted by Cheryll. ( www.cubbyholestitching.blogspot.com.au). Do visit her blog and sign up for the first sewing night for 2015.
